The Weekly Vibe No 20

Lots been a happning this last couple of weeks in Murphy's. We witnessed the debut gig by Phamily on Sunday featuring a certain Mr Garret D, aka G Love, with a Timo Shanko on bass and Tom Arey on drums. All was well until the eight girls at the front demanded Timo play his three minute bass solo again.

A splendid time was had by all and we look forward to doing it all again when the G man returns from a summer of being ably supported by a certain Jack Johnson on tour....

This week we have returning heroes Dub Apocalypse on Sunday. Tommy and Nate return from Hawaii and John Brown's Body patronage. This night rocks.

weekly vibe 16 dub apocalypse

The Weekly Vibe No 16

With John Brown's Body playing The Paradise the dub sessions are put on hold this Sunday, reckon a sell out show at the Paradise takes precedence this time!

We will be having a word though. The excellent Win By Knockout perform their debut Murphy's gig instead. We are really looking forward to that one.

Check out The Weekly Vibe podcast, spread the word and get the music far and wide. CHECK IT!!! Download choice tracks from over the last six months (and counting) and read up about the bands too. Go here for The Weekly Vibe.

SATURDAY: Sparrow

Sparrow play a great take on the Beth Orton/Liz Frasier/Portishead/Everything But the Girl genre of cute songwriting and great vocals but with more of a sense of humor.

Come down on Saturday to check them out.

SUNDAY: Win By Knockout

Win By Knockout is a reggae trio with a stripped-down rocksteady sound. David writes the tunes on his acoustic guitar, then Steffie adds the jumping low end, then Chris adds the big-time hits.
The goal is a danceable, uplifting set that's hard not to sing along to.

Game on.

MONDAY: BEGINNERS MIND

Drew Sayers brings a killing band to Murphy's for a debut session.

Drew Sayers: Saxophone (of the Superpowers)
Noah Jarrett: Bass
Tony Falco: Drums

"Music dictated by simple melodies and simple mindsets". Expect Originals, Free Playing, and tunes by Ornette Coleman, Dewey Redman and Miles.

TUESDAY: Public House

Geoff returns for a night of pure one thousand per cent vibe. Mixing elements of Dub, Rock Reggae and Jazz for a hedonistic mix of music that is out there with the best of the post jam
sounds of today. Think Jacob Fred/The Duo/The Slip. Public House is cooler and probably better looking.
