SOUL POWER WITH THE B3 KINGS

B3 KINGS BUILD ON THE SUCCESS OF THE LAST 6 MONTHS.
Between Timo Shanko and Sam Kininger there resides a special interplay that you don't often hear between players. With the B3 Kings we get to witness a bizarrely talented bunch of up for it troubadours (though minnesingers would be more correct....) every week at Matt Murphy's.
Nigel on "Soul Power" is the epitome of what Tuesday nights is about at Murphy's, musicians sitting in and us mere mortals getting the benefit of that magic.
Here we have over ten minutes of Funk action that will go down again this Sunday at the Live and Direct night at Murphys.....

Daniel Wright World Collective

Daniel Wright World Collective Crash Murphy's Pub.

In an apparent departure for Murphy's this Saturday past we heard the faint murmurings of cool Indie aesthetics amongst the Rabbits on the wall. Figure a bit of the Beta Band with a tune (ok, dry the rain is a classic but where the f*ck was the follow up?) coupled with a hint of Jack Johnson without the need to be on every soundtrack for his Surfboard school fund...scratch that, he has "fund" etched all over him already.

My point being that DWWC hints at what these bands might have been without the career defining splits in the road. Slow build, plaintive edgy beauty from within and then blam! Its there, the song is in a flute solo, the end is nigh and you want to play it another ten times to your sister her boyfriend and his mum.

Check it out. They will play Matt Murphy's at a date to be decided...soon.

Bobby Keyes @ Murphy's Pub

Bobby Keyes is the International man of mystery.
Having played with all sorts of "stars" it now is obvious who the real star is.
The man himself played a set of such diversity that you have to doff your cap to the genius that
is BK.
Effortlessly moving from hard rock to jazz and back through country this mans talent is beguiling.
No wonder he has played with everyone from Jerry Lee Lewis to New Kids on the Block and now Robin Thicke. Yes the Robin Thicke who is No.1 in the RnB charts right NOW>!!!
Who in the Murphy's audience would have known that last month Bobby was in a studio with Pharrel?!!!
So, take a listen to a guitar playing genius who we look forward to welcoming back to Murphy's soon....stay tuned.

The Well Next Show April 6th Murphy's

THE WELL played a set of variety and uplifting vibes at Matt Murphy's, Brookline, MA this Friday 2nd March. In front of a packed out crowd Jimmy Trapella (vocals) showed off the qualities of a front man with flair and gusto. The day will come when not just four dancers will be behind him (as there were here, all female it might be added...) but a whole coterie.
This Mp3 shows off the bands depth of sound with some drum and bass tendencies as well as some good atmospherics and gear shifts in the song. Not just a one trick pony these boys.
