FRIDAY: Thousands of One
Gaining notoriety for their spirited live shows throughout the northeast, Thousands of One jumps from activist/retro soul - think Olu Dara or Marvin Gaye - to cross Atlantic Afrobeat/funk experiments as in Fela Kuti meets James Brown- to underground Hiphop a la The Roots or Talib Kweli with a funk rock edge.
SoulForce features Speech from Arrested Development, as well as guest performances from Elliot Martin (of John Brown's Body). Elliot is also producing the CD. Following the release, they
will hit the road for their fourth US tour. Getting a band of Thousands of One's calibre to play Boston, not just Murphy's, is a feather in the cap. They are sensational and a band not to miss.

MONDAY: SEAMONSTERS
Matt Murphy's is the perfect place to go on a Monday night to escape the election coverage, foreclosures, economic meltdown, at war mindset and Superbowl hyperbole if you are so inclined. Christian McNeil is a well kent face around town. A legend on the local scene. A powerhouse voice and a turn of phrase that lends itself perfectly to the song form, this is the Ulster version of where Bono would be if he had split U2 up in their prime (and saved us the aural nightmares hitherto) and teamed up with a bunch of hungry Waterboys. Add in a mellow Black Francis and you are almost there. Music to grab you by the heart and make you fall in love all over again. Did we say we think they are magnificent?
TUESDAY: Public House
Geoff Scott returns with mike Rivard and Brian Sayers and Timo Shanko to show everyone why they are at the Pub in the first place. Six years on and going STRONG. Music experimentation,
stretching of the musical mind muscle. Post jam sounds of the nth degree get your pulse racing for the mid week weekend at Murphy's.
Expect a great crowd for what remains the best night in Boston bar none.

The Weekly Vibe Weepin' Willie Robinson
The Weekly Vibe No 1
We're turning the page and starting from one again for 2008. Welcome and let the show begin.
We start with a tribute to a great performer who passed away this week. Weepin' Willie Robinson only recently came to Matt Murphy's but on his first visit he sat in with The Wild Sextet. An MP3 of his performance was included in the Weekly Vibe in fact. Mid December saw him come and check out Madi Diaz and he of course ended up gracing the stage.
He was a true Gent who had shared the stage with many famous names and never lost his love of music right up until the end. A legend.
Here is one of Willie's last ever performances.
The Upcoming shows at Matt Murphy's Pub will delight the aural senses.

FRIDAY: Josh Dion Band
Josh Dion is a "singing drummer" who made his first impression in New York in February 2004 at the The Blue Note with, among others, guitar master Chuck Loeb, saxophonist Kim Waters and Will Lee. Post Jam sounds with a sh** hot band.
SATURDAY: Andy Voelker
Andy Voelker leads one of the most talked about alt-jazz bands in town.
A mainstay of the Thursday night resident band, Wild Sextet, tonight sees Andy stretch out and take full control! All original tunes with tips of the hat to Coltrane and Coleman.
SUNDAY: GUVNA
This band features players from John Brown’s Body in a dub apocalypse featuring tunes recorded with the late and great Scott Palmer also of John Brown's Body and one of the first players at Murphy's who helped introduce musicians to the room. TUESDAY: B3 KINGS
Here for the next round of Tuesdays is the ever popular B3 kings on a mission to convert everyone to the Church of B3. Boogaloo meets Reggae with some serious attitude. We are talking Brian Thomas (Akashic, JBB) and Timo Shanko on all out attack mode. Sensational musicianship with an up for it crowd.
