SATURDAY: Sparrow

Sparrow play a great take on the Beth Orton/Liz Frasier/Portishead/Everything But the Girl genre of cute songwriting and great vocals but with more of a sense of humor.

Come down on Saturday to check them out.

SUNDAY: Win By Knockout

Win By Knockout is a reggae trio with a stripped-down rocksteady sound. David writes the tunes on his acoustic guitar, then Steffie adds the jumping low end, then Chris adds the big-time hits.
The goal is a danceable, uplifting set that's hard not to sing along to.

sounds of today. Think Jacob Fred/The Duo/The Slip. Public House is cooler and probably better looking.

THURSDAY: Wild Sextet

Head into Murphy's for a free concert with one of the Best Jazz acts in the USA right now. Original tunes inspired by the greats from the Fifties and Sixties. Bedazzling dueling Saxophones from two of the towering talents in Boston, Andy Voelker and Timo Shanko, ridiculous guitar from Steve Fell and sublime rhythm section from Geoff Charland and Luther. Then there is the founder Grayson Farmer on Trumpet, nearing legend status from appearing on Slip albums and original member of The Jazz Farmers with The Duo's Marco Benevento.

FRIDAY: Void Union

Void Union is the band to watch this year! A collective of Thad Merritt (Bass), Jesse Hayes (Drums), Rich Graiko (Trumpet), John DeCarlo (Guitar), and Josh Cohen (Tenor Sax).

Vibe music to keep people on the dance floor all night long with timeless Jamaican grooves. Keep and eye out for the next Gwen Stefani on guest lead vocals...sensational.

Every Sunday in March and April we bring you the Dub Apocalypse session. Akin to the Guvna sessions only more intimate. Similar vibes though, Tommy Benedetti (the viber) is the main man from John Brown's Body-Boston Reggae legends,and he brings his big fat address book to Murphy's and calls all his Dub friends to lay down the heaviest Dub sessions this side of the Atlantic. Expect some very good special guests....Mike Keenan, Axel Foley,
Trama, Steve D.....

MONDAY: JON JONSSON

A break from the routine tonight, we have the Iclandic version of Coldplay coming to Murphy's. Great voice and very poptastic. Get your emo boots on and get your fill of the next Sigur Ros
meets Dave Matthews.

Spring Spring Spring!!!! Change is in the air and we are moving on at Matt Murphy's too. Treena has left us, 1am closing on Saturday....but don't despair!! We have a ton of great music lined up for you. Seahorses on a FRIDAY!!!! THe best gift we can give to your weekend for those that couldn't make it out on a Monday or Tuesday over the last few months.
This band is a delight. We have a great record release party on Tuesday before Public House in the shape of JAcob Fred Jazz Odyssey. Come down for prizes and free stuff between 9 and 11 before the band kicks off.

We have a blockbuster for you in the shape of the Dub Apocalypse and Seamonsters, two powerhouse bands that are packing them in each week. Spread the word and come and check two bands on the rise.

Alt Country is the easy tag to give these boys but does not do them anywhere near the justice they deserve. Like rhinestone cowboys singing on the edge of the canyon they are bleeding
hearts awaiting your acceptance. We welcome them in to Murphy's where we will give them comfort from the cold and stormy weather.
A band to sit back and charm the Ol' lady with for sure.

The Big Man brings a cracking band to the Pub for a night of top Jazz and Funk grooves. A seasoned performer having played with Reggae giants John Brown's Body across the globe and with his own band Akashic Record who have backed everyone from Earth Wind and Fire to Chicago! Brian brings Tom Arey, Nate Edgar and Amy Bowles to the fore tonight.

TUESDAY: Public House
