The Weekly Vibe No 20
Lots been a happning this last couple of weeks in Murphy's. We witnessed the debut gig by Phamily on Sunday featuring a certain Mr Garret D, aka G Love, with a Timo Shanko on bass and Tom Arey on drums. All was well until the eight girls at the front demanded Timo play his three minute bass solo again.
A splendid time was had by all and we look forward to doing it all again when the G man returns from a summer of being ably supported by a certain Jack Johnson on tour....
This week we have returning heroes Dub Apocalypse on Sunday. Tommy and Nate return from Hawaii and John Brown's Body patronage. This night rocks.
The Upcoming shows at Matt Murphy's Pub will delight the aural senses.

The Seamonsters play the final Tuesday night of this run on the 27th. Don't miss it.
THURSDAY: Wild Sextet
Head into Murphy's for a free concert with one of the Best Jazz acts in the USA right now. Original tunes inspired by the greats from the Fifties and Sixties. Bedazzling dueling Saxophones from two of the towering talents in Boston, Andy Voelker and Timo Shanko, ridiculous guitar from Steve Fell and sublime rhythm section from Geoff Charland and Luther. Then there is the founder Grayson Farmer on Trumpet, nearing legend status from appearing on Slip albums and original member of The Jazz Farmers with The Duo's Marco Benevento.
FRIDAY: Void Union
Sensational grooves from the VIod Union featuring Haley Jane on vocals and guest performances. This band brings to the floor early No Doubt but with real old school sensibilities.
SATURDAY: Dan Wright World Collective
One of the most interesting bands on the rise in Boston just now. We put this tape in the eight track at Pub Records shabby office complex and were simply blown away! If you had Beck at
gunpoint and told him to play in the style of Styx this is not what he would sound like. Great singer and great band.
SUNDAY: Dub Apocalypse
Tomy Benedetti on drums with Nate Edgar on bass with Johnny Trama on guitar bringing the essential dub to the house of Live and Direct.. This night is one to check out as they play throughout June.
MONDAY: Brian Thomas
BT is the go to man on Trombone and one of the best there is. Come down and check out one of the best funk sessions you will come across.
TUESDAY: Seamonsters
A powerhouse voice and a turn of phrase that lends itself perfectly to the song form, this is music to make you fall in love all over again. Did we say we think they are magnificent?
