weeklyl vibe St Patrick's day

The Weekly Vibe No 11

St Patrick's Day is upon us! In fact not once but twice, officially on the 15th this year for the first
time since 1946...don't ask us about that one. But suffice to say we will be celebrating it all weekend! Come down to join us with a pint, some food and a band at the only place you can do all three to the highest possible standard!!

Here is the FREE MP3 OF THE WEEK; a sampling of the Three Day Threshold who are entertaining us this St Patrick's Day night.

Also we have a prize for St Patick's Day of a re mastered U2 Cd for the Twentieth anniversary
of THE JOSHUS TREE. All you have to do is come in on St Patrick's Day and answer this question......

What school did Larry Mullen form the band at?

Check out The Weekly Vibe podcast, spread the word and get the music far and wide. CHECK IT!!! Download choice tracks from over the last six months (and counting) and read up about the bands too. Go here for The Weekly Vibe.

The Upcoming shows at Matt Murphy's Pub will delight the aural senses.

THURSDAY: Wild Sextet

Head into Murphy's for a free concert with one of the Best Jazz acts in the USA right now. Original tunes inspired by the greats from the Fifties and Sixties. Bedazzling dueling Saxophones from two of the towering talents in Boston, Andy Voelker and Timo Shanko, ridiculous guitar from Steve Fell and sublime rhythm section from Geoff Charland and Luther. Then there is the founder Grayson Farmer on Trumpet, nearing legend status from appearing on Slip albums and original member of The Jazz Farmers with The Duo's Marco Benevento.

FRIDAY: Sambalolo

Excellent African tunes with some American influences creeping in there courtesy of Dave's Daniel Lanois esque guitar treatment. Bouba knows how to get an audience going and what better night to come down than on a Friday at the Friday Social.

A great night is guaranteed.

SATURDAY: Ten Tumbao

Latin and Caribbean rhythms, intricate vocal harmonies, and original songs in Spanish, French, English, Haitian Creole and Portuguese. Based out of New York City, this band is a treat.

SUNDAY: Dub Apocalypse

Every Sunday in March and April we bring you the Dub Apocalypse session. Akin to the Guvna sessions only more intimate. Similar vibes though, Tommy Benedetti (the viber) is the main man from John Brown's Body-Boston Reggae legends, and he brings his big fat address book to Murphy's and calls all his Dub friends to lay down the heaviest Dub sessions this side of the Atlantic. Expect some very good special guests....Mike Keenan, Axel Foley, Trama, Steve D.....

MONDAY: Three Day Threshold

Classic bluegrass rifts with punk rock's hard edge..The Boston Herald said:
"Boston's Three Day Threshold has a felicitously original sound. Combining the best of The Rolling Stones, The Pogues, Little Feat and Johnny Cash, Three Day Threshold gets juiced
up. 3DT's songs are energetic, loud and crafted with terrific hooks."
